Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday Reflection

Written by Bo Diego
Lent wasn’t intentionally supposed to be a period of strictness, gloominess, or mourning. In the winter do you not cover yourselves for how cold it is? Now it is Spring, and just as this is a time to blossom forth, it is your chance to show God how faithful you are to Him. This is the start of a journey, and while people may view journeys as gruesome and difficult, do we not have destinations in our life? Let us take on this journey for the RIGHT reason and in doing so, may it bring us closer to God. If you’re still looking for something to do or give this Lent season, give up something difficult. Give up your favorite food, give up time, give up anything difficult. When you realize how difficult your sacrifices are, you realize how valuable and important they are to you. You also learn a little about what God has done for you.

CRS Reflection on Lent

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, offers some reflection of what Lent is and how we might begin to observe it.

Why Fast on Ash Wednesday

Thanks to Fr. Michael Schmitz as he shares with us his wisdom behind this Lenten practice.
