Fr. Martin A. Solma, SM, University Chaplain

Fr. Marty was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended the Marianist high school there.   He joined the Society of Mary and professed his first vows in 1967.  Graduated from the University of Dayton in 1971 with degrees in philosophy and English. Began a high school teaching career, first in Kalamazoo, Michigan, then in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Ordained in 1978. In 1982, was asked to go to Nigeria, West Africa, to assist with the development of an African unit of the Society of Mary.  He lived three years in Ekpoma, Nigeria, then 24 years in Nairobi, Kenya.  He left Africa in 2010, when the African unit was growing and becoming self-sufficient.   Spent the last thirteen years in Kenya, and managed a large (2000 student) k-8 primary school in the Mukuru kwa Njenga slum, providing very poor children with a quality Catholic and Marianist education. Returned to the US in 2010 and served for the next eight years as provincial of the Marianist Province of the United States, serving 300+ religious, 19 middle and second schools and three universities, including Chaminade University of Honolulu, and a growing Marianist unit in India.  Came to Chaminade University in November 2018 and have been happily serving as chaplain and member of the Campus Ministry team.

Maimoa H. Fineisaloi, Campus Minister

Maimoa H. Fineisaloi was born in Wailuku, Maui and raised in Kanokupolu, Tongatapu. She attended St. Anthony Jr/Sr. High School, a Marianist institution on the island of Maui. She continued her Marianist education at Chaminade University of Honolulu earning a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology. As an undergraduate, she was an active student in Campus Ministry and an RA with Residential Life. Maimoa became a campus minister in the Fall of 2007. She brings a wealth of experience as a former student and now seasoned campus minister.
