We serve because we care. Our community service opportunities embodies the ideal of love of neighbor taught by Jesus Christ. Participants will get to know more about themselves through each opportunity. Many students who come thinking they will change the world by their service will soon find out that the world isn’t changed, but rather they are changed by it.

Feed the Hungry

During the school year, we take a number of students to the Next Step Shelter, a transitional shelter in Kaka’ako. The primary purpose of the community service opportunity to provide the evening meal for the residents and families at Next Step, spur our students to reflection.

Reflection After Each Experience

Following each community service experience volunteers will return to campus to reflect on the deeper meaning of the service they just experienced, reflecting on the meaning of the values they shared, and why the human heart responds the way it does after each act of compassion.

Our students share their reflections of what they’ve learned during their time of service, whether it be with the Next Step Shelter, I-Rec (Intensive Recreation), IHS (Institute for Human Services), or Keiki O Ka ‘Aina.
