Jeremiah Carter, Director of Campus Ministry
Jeremiah Carter was born in Azores, Portugal and raised in various places through a military family. During his highschool and college years he lived in Alabama where he grew more into his understanding of the Christian faith from his Catholic & Protestant family members and friends. He received his B.A. in Communication from the University of South Alabama where he got involved in college ministry and began feeling “called” to serve as a minister. He became a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Mobile, Alabama and earned an M.A. in Catholic Philosophical Studies and later a second M.A. in Pastoral Theology from St Meinrad School of Theology. He was then invited by his sister to visit Hawaii where he fell in love with the people and the islands. Before Chaminade, Jeremiah was a teacher and Director of Campus Ministry at Damien Memorial School in Kalihi. In his free time he enjoys the beauty that Hawaii has to offer with great people, hiking, diving, fishing, & surfing.
Fr. Martin A. Solma, SM, University Chaplain
Fr. Marty was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended the Marianist high school there. He joined the Society of Mary and professed his first vows in 1967. Graduated from the University of Dayton in 1971 with degrees in philosophy and English. Began a high school teaching career, first in Kalamazoo, Michigan, then in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ordained in 1978. In 1982, was asked to go to Nigeria, West Africa, to assist with the development of an African unit of the Society of Mary. He lived three years in Ekpoma, Nigeria, then 24 years in Nairobi, Kenya. He left Africa in 2010, when the African unit was growing and becoming self-sufficient. Spent the last thirteen years in Kenya, and managed a large (2000 student) k-8 primary school in the Mukuru kwa Njenga slum, providing very poor children with a quality Catholic and Marianist education. Returned to the US in 2010 and served for the next eight years as provincial of the Marianist Province of the United States, serving 300+ religious, 19 middle and second schools and three universities, including Chaminade University of Honolulu, and a growing Marianist unit in India. Came to Chaminade University in November 2018 and have been happily serving as chaplain and member of the Campus Ministry team.
Maimoa Finesaloi, Campus Minister
Maimoa H. Fineisaloi was born in Wailuku, Maui and raised in Kanokupolu, Tongatapu. She attended St. Anthony Jr/Sr. High School, a Marianist institution on the island of Maui. She continued her Marianist education at Chaminade University of Honolulu earning a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology. As an undergraduate, she was an active student in Campus Ministry and an RA with Residential Life. Maimoa became a campus minister in the Fall of 2007. She brings a wealth of experience as a former student and now seasoned campus minister.
Rhea Quemado, Campus Minister
Rhea was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She attended St. Joseph School Waipahu, and is a parishoner at Resurrection of the Lord in Waipio, doing various different ministries. She graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business and a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies. She is currently getting her Masters Degree in Pastoral Theology at Chaminade University and is set to graduate in Spring 2021. She joined the Chaminade Campus Ministry team August 2018, bringing her marketing, design, and tech skills to liven our online presence and social media. She is actively a part of the EPIC Young Adult Ministry in the diocese and she works in partnership with the Pu’a Foundation with the diocese as a House Mom for the Mercy House, that helps support women transitioning out of prison.
