Lumana’i O Samoa
What is White Sunday?
Every Year, White Sunday is celebrated on the second Sunday of October with our Samoan Community. This year we celebrated it at our evening student liturgy at 6:30 PM on October 11th.
Though, due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19, the mass was LIVE-STREAMED and the were no performances but video, to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and faculty. We wanted to be mindful of the guidelines provided to us by the CDC and the Diocese of Honolulu.
White Sunday is the celebration of children. Traditionally, the children host the service for everyone and it symbolizes the importance of kids in the church community. It’s an opportunity to get the children involved in religious activities.
The Mass proves to be very popular, with our very own Lumanaʻi O Samoa Club (LOS) taking the lead in providing the music and dancing. Come join us! Please see LOS performance and a Throwback in honor of White Sunday. Their theme this year was Be the Light.
